Joe Biden secured a key victory last night in Michigan, a state Bernie Sanders where he upset Hillary Clinton in 2016 and a major battleground state for the 2020 general election. Biden also won Missouri, Mississippi and Idaho.
Turnout for Biden vs Clinton in 2016 was another key results last night. Biden won big in Detroit suburbs and saw a substantial increase in voters from four years ago. The same bump in turnout was seen in the suburbs outside of St. Louis, Kansas City, and Memphis.
Coronavirus cases in the U.S. surpassed 1,000. The Bank of England slashed interest rates by 50 basis points and the U.K. promised £30B of fiscal stimulus for coronavirus relief. China reported an increase in cases imported from abroad. Confirmed cases have reached 119,132, in 115 countries and regions, according to data compiled by Johns Hopkins University. More than 4,290 people have now died.
U.S. stock futures, Asia’s main indexes and Treasury yields were all pointing lower at time of this publication. The final 30 minutes of the U.S. stock market has lately been the most volatile, resulting in wild swings upward or down.

Declining to urge Warren to endorse Sanders, she said, “I don’t think it’s about telling anybody what to do. I think it’s about, how do we invite people, and how do we make our movement bigger, and how do we adapt it to be as inclusive a possible while retaining our values.”
