Congress agrees on a $2 trillion coronavirus stimulus bill. The package is aimed at shielding the U.S. economy from the worst consequences of the coronavirus pandemic.
Global markets are rallying on news of the stimulus bill. Dow futures were up 3.6% this morning, and yesterday the Dow soared 11% making it the largest single-day percentage gain in 87 years.
Prince Charles tests positive for coronavirus. The 71-year-old Prince of Wales has mild symptoms and “remains in good health,” according to a statement.
Spain’s death toll from coronavirus surpasses 3,400. Spain’s toll surged past China’s, making it the world’s hardest hit country behind Italy. There is a tight quarantine under way to protect the 46 million residents. India, home to more than 1.3 billion people, began the world’s largest lockdown.
White House coronavirus task force is asking everyone who has left the area in or around New York City recently to self-isolate for 14 days. The concern is over the high infection rate in and around New York City. 60% of all new U.S. coronavirus cases have originated in the area. Subway service is being cut significantly over staff shortages and lack of ridership.
